John Michael Wright, né en mai 1617 et mort en juillet 1694, est un peintre portraitiste baroque écossais qui étudie à Édimbourg sous la direction de George Jamesone. Il acquiert ensuite une solide réputation d'artiste et de savant lors d'un long séjour à Rome où il est admis à l’Accademia di San Luca et fréquente les plus éminents artistes de sa génération.
